People Sharing Perspectives: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Group
The Focus: Gathering and Sharing New Angles
"People Sharing Perspectives" is a collaborative, structured clinical psychotherapy group. Dr. Muhammad facilitates this active, evidence-based treatment space designed for clients who want to step out of their internal loops by actively processing and restructuring the internalized social and cultural norms that sabotage their personal relationships. Unlike a casual support or discussion circle, this group utilizes logical analysis to help you identify automatic thoughts, unpack maladaptive core beliefs, and build cognitive frameworks to reduce symptoms of anxiety, stress, and relational distress.
The Format: Shared Insights. Structured Dialogue. Actionable Shifts.
The Audit: We examine how individual core beliefs and automatic thoughts influence your daily interactions. We establish a formal diagnostic baseline and individualized treatment goals for each member.
The Deconstruction: Using the Idea-Focused Approach alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we look at how external messages and hidden social expectations shape the way you view your problems.
The Blueprint: You gain a broader repository of real-world perspectives to help you reframe challenges, modify behavior, and build cognitive frameworks to navigate relational stress or adjustment challenges.
The Clinical Approach
Each group session combines two advanced frameworks:
Culturally-Adapted CBT: Modifying traditional cognitive interventions to validate your lived experiences and diverse background.
The Idea-Focused Approach to Conflict Management: Examining the societal scripts and norms that fuel friction in your communication.
Who This Is For
We offer specialized, distinct cohorts tailored to specific dynamics. The target clients are adults and Maryland residents (ages 25+) navigating relational stress or adjustment challenges:
Women (General): Navigating role transitions, boundary setting, and identity balance within a supportive peer space.
African-American Women: A dedicated space exploring intersectional experiences, systemic expectations, boundary setting, and role transitions.
Couples (General): Breaking repetitive communication loops and managing relational hurdles in structured peer settings.
African-American Couples: Navigating relational growth, cultural strengths, and communication alignment alongside pairs with shared cultural contexts.
Therapists: A supportive environment for clinicians to process professional isolating factors and relational dynamics.
The Details
Format: 90-minute weekly virtual group sessions via HIPAA-compliant Zoom.
The Appointment Time: Appointments usually occur between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time). This is because group processing requires high environmental awareness and active psychological presence. Holding sessions during daytime hours ensures members remain sharp, receptive, and fully engaged in the collaborative dialogue.
Jurisdictional Note: Because this is a regulated clinical service, participants must be physically located in Maryland during sessions and complete an initial clinical intake/screening prior to group entry.
Focus: This is a structured, goal-oriented clinical treatment group for non-crisis concerns, emphasizing peer feedback, cognitive restructuring, and relational growth.
